According to the International Society of Hair Restoration, more than 4,500 facial hair transplants were carried out in the UK last year – up 13 per cent on the year before, making the procedure more than three times as popular as nose jobs among British men.

Likewise on the rise is the use of Minoxidil for bearded men. Beardoholic reviewed the product back in April, here’s what they had to say:

“One of the ways that many guys are combating genetics is utilizing the power behind Rogaine. This hair growth formula also goes by the technical name Minoxidil, which is the active ingredient in this hair growth product. Many guys have questions as to whether it works, how safe is it, and how fast will you see results?…”

“Take a quick look online for before-and-after images of guys who have tried Rogaine and you might be surprised. There are in fact many men who have seen quite impressive results after applying the medication to their faces. To take things a step further, it has been scientifically proven that in some instances, the Rogaine can spur those follicles to start sprouting hairs.”

What is Minoxidil?

Minoxidil slows hair loss and promotes hair regrowth on both men and women. About 40% of men experience hair regrowth after 3–6 months. It is the only FDA-approved medication for androgenic hair loss. Treatments usually include a 5% concentration solution that is designed for men and a 2% concentration solution for women. It’s topical, available over-the-counter, and applied twice a day (5% concentration).

If you’ve ever considered the use of Minoxidil, it’s worth looking into!
