what causes hair loss

Our Blog

Hair loss, and hair thinning, can be devastating to both men and women. It has an impact on self-esteem, can damage one’s self-worth, and is something many people take very seriously. August is Hair Loss Awareness Month and it’s important for us to take this time to break down stigmas and open up the conversation on this detrimental issue.

What Causes Balding and Loss?

Genetics plays a large role in your chances of losing your hair. If either of your parents experienced thinning at any point in their lives there’s a very good chance that you will, too. There’s also a handful of other things that can cause hair loss, such as trauma, surgery, medication,, diet, and medical issues. Its important that if you’re suffering from hair loss that you see your physician.

What Solutions are There?

When it comes to restoring your hair there are many proven solutions. Hair transplants are, of course, the most permanent, with FUE being the most popular. Outside of that, there are PRP Injections, LaserCaps, medications, and temporary solutions such hair fibers.

Who Loses Their Hair?

  1. 40% of men have noticeable balding by age 35, 65% by age 60, and 80% by age 80.
  2. Male pattern baldness and female pattern hair loss are the most common conditions.>
  3. Normal hair loss is considered to be 100 hairs per day, based on the average scalp containing 100,000 hair follicles.
  4. Roughly 50% of women will have hair loss at some point in their life
